Hosea 8-14

Today we finish Hosea.  One thing that stuck out to me was the many names for God in
these verses.  He is called "your helper," "Lord," "Lord God Almighty," "Holy One'", "God Most High," and "Savior."  God truly is our EVERYTHING!  That is awesome.  Sometimes the hardest part is waiting for Him to do His most perfect, powerful, wonderful thing in our lives...

the Lord God Almighty,
    the Lord is his name!

But you must return to your God;

    maintain love and justice,

and wait for your God always.

I don't know about you, but I am not good at waiting  Thank goodness God's patience and unconditional love more than make up for my impatience.  He tells us exactly what we are to do,

Take words with you

    and return to the Lord.

Say to him:

    “Forgive all our sins

and receive us graciously,

that we may offer the fruit of our lips..."

And His promise for us is worth magnifying,

“I will heal their waywardness

    and love them freely,

for my anger has turned away from them."
Hosea 14:2, 4

It makes me think.  What areas of my own life need some work, some talking about with God?  What are my wayward ways?  What in my life draws me closer to God?  Waiting is hard, but God is still with us and working in us if we are willing to keep our focus on Him.  We can always thank God for that!

A prayer for today-
Dear God,

Thank you for being my EVERYTHING day in and day out.  Forgive me for being impatient and forgetting that you are the source of all that I am and all that I have.  Heal my waywardness and strengthen my relationship with You.  Show me where and when to wait and where and when to act in Your name.

In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

Love in Christ,
