Psalms 47-51

Psalms 47-51 remind me that our God in Heaven is God of Earth too.  And no matter what is going on, He is with us every moment of every day loving us for who He made us to be.

He doesn't love us because we're perfect.  There's no "because" to God's love.  He just loves us, no conditions attached.  That is awesome and praiseworthy!

And so when we do mess-up, because we are human living in a very messy world, God calls us to remember Him and His love for us by confessing our sins with open hearts.

God is able to use sin.  In Christ, we are made perfect.  Our amazing God uses our imperfections, our mess-ups, and our sins to draw us closer to Him and to show others the freeing and transforming power of His amazing love.  It's a sight to see!

We have nothing to lose and everything to gain by laying all our "baggage" out there at the foot of the cross!

How do we do that and make sure we are doing it right?  No worries.

King David offers us the perfect, simple words for an open-hearted, life-changing confession.

It's our prayer for today-

Dear God,

Thank You for loving me for who You made me to be.  Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, into the world to save me from my imperfections, my mess-ups, and my sins.

Have mercy on me, O God,
    according to your unfailing love;

according to your great compassion

    blot out my transgressions.

Wash away all my iniquity
and cleanse me from my sin...

Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.
11
Do not cast me from your presence

or take your Holy Spirit from me.
12
Restore to me the joy of your salvation
and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Then I will teach transgressors your ways,
so that sinners will turn back to you.
Deliver me from the guilt of [confess your sins to God], O God,
you who are God my Savior,

and my tongue will sing of your righteousness.
15
Open my lips, Lord,
and my mouth will declare your praise.

In Christ, I am free, forgiven, and full of new life, now and for eternity.  Guide me in sharing the good news for You, Lord!

In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit I pray,
Amen

Grace and Peace of Christ,
