Psalms 17-21

There's certainty in Psalms 17-21, certainty that God is there (and here with us)- loving, protecting, saving, and working things out in an amazingly great and good way that none of us ever could on our own.

If I had to pick one word that immediately comes to mind from today's reading, it would be certainty.

God is certain.  He's the only sure thing in this life.  We can be certain that He is always with us, whether things are good or bad, easy or hard, happy or sad, calm or crazy.  God is simply holding our hands offering us His joy.  And that is awesome, something definitely worth talking about.

The psalmist in Psalm 18 gives us one simple sentence that's worth repeating over and over again when you and I need a little reminder of God's certainty.

I love you, Lord, my strength.

So if I am on top of the world, this short prayer helps keep my heart humble and thankful.  On the other hand, when I am barely making it through the day, this prayer fills me with hope and thanksgiving.  And even if my day falls somewhere in between, these words point to my God who loves me and works in me, through me, and for me.

I am certain God does the same for you every single day.

A prayer for today-

Dear God,

Thank You for being my rock and my stronghold.  Thank You for keeping my lamp burning and turning darkness into light.  Thank You for always answering me when I call on You and for holding my hand each day.  Thank You for loving me the perfect way You do.  Thank You for Your help that makes me great.

I am so grateful for Your certain presence in my life.

Forgive my faults, those that are hidden and those that are obvious.  May my words, my thoughts, my actions, and my heart be pleasing to You.

I love You, Lord, my strength.

In Christ's name I pray,
Amen

Blessings,
