Leviticus 26-27

God is on Mount Sinai finishing up His conversation with Moses in Leviticus 26-27.  He has given Moses detailed instructions for the Israelites, all to help them have a strong spiritual relationship with God as they journey to the Promised Land.  God rewards obedience and punishes disobedience seven times over.  We have a friendly reminder filled with words of encouragement, security, and hope with God in contrast to a scary warning full of horrible consequences without God.

God continues to deliver on His promises in big ways for the Israelites, but He really wants and needs the Israelites to be faithful.  The same applies to believers today.  I am pretty sure that is why God has repeated His commands so many times in this book of the Bible.

God knows how our human minds and bodies get us into trouble so obedience is not as simple as it sounds.  That's because obedience doesn't mean an easy path.  In fact I am figuring out that obeying God, more often than not, forces me to the end of my own rope and human limitations.

God wants us to know and recognize His saving power at work in our lives when He moves us beyond our own individual capacity for His purposes.  He is the ONE who moves mountains.  When we let God be the source of our strength, we get to see His glory.

Obedience to God is worth our time and effort.  Listen to just a tiny sliver of His awesome reward for us...

“‘I will look on you with favor and make you fruitful and increase your numbers, and I will keep my covenant with you...

12 I will walk among you and be your God, and you will be my people.

A prayer for today-

Dear God,

Thank You for Your amazing promises for me.  Thank You for being with me so that I can do all things through Christ.  I am Yours.  I pray for your favor and blessing in my life and in the life of my family for generations to come.  I am afraid because I need lots of reminders and patience.  Forgive me, for my thoughts are not as high as Your thoughts, nor are my ways always Your ways.  Help me hear Your voice and obey You.  I am Your humble servant, Lord.

I also pray You will hold the hands of ______________________ today.  They need Your healing love.

In the name of God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit I pray,
Amen

In Christ's love,
