Romans 1-3

We hear more from Paul as we begin reading Romans today.  This man really has a way with words, doesn't he?  He writes to the Roman Christians on his way to Spain even though he had never met them.  He's so good at encouraging people in their faith and explaining God's grace through faith.  We can learn so much from Paul.

Paul inspires me.

God has blessed Paul with His grace through his relationship with Jesus.  God continues to work dramatically in his life.  God gives Paul a lot to talk about with others.  Paul says,

First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is being reported all over the world

11 I long to see you so that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to make you strong— 12 that is, that you and I may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith.

Paul's situation from today's reading mirrors my own as I attempt to blog about my faith journey.  Paul writes to share his faith because he knows from personal experience what a difference it makes.  He went through years of thinking he had it all figured out; when really, he had nothing figured out.  He is a poster child for the before and after transformation that happens when we believe.  His weaknesses serve to connect him to people's hearts.

And so, because of God's great love, with thanksgiving, Paul writes.  He writes to people, not even knowing who will read his words.  His writing comes with heartfelt prayers for every reader to be filled with the fullness of God's love.  He hopes that somehow, someway what he is doing will strengthen others and give them hope.  He is counting on his faith to be contagious.

Me too.

How do you feel God is using you?

A prayer for today-

Dear God,

Thank you for blessing me with all I need to serve others in faith.  Help me recognize your divine opportunities to be a light in the lives of others.  Forgive me for letting my ways muffle your perfect voice and direction in my life.  I need your strong guidance.  I pray your transforming grace and peace will come to all those on my mind today.

In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

Blessings,
