2 Thessalonians 1-3

2 Thessalonians 1-3 is Paul's second letter to the Thessalonians.  Apparently, there was some confusion after they received false testimony that Christ had already come again.  They were afraid they had missed the boat, so to speak.  Have you ever felt like that in your faith?  I have.  Paul reassures them that, as believers, they will KNOW when Christ comes again because He has called them to share in God's glory.  How amazing!  He also encourages Christians to work for God in all that we do.  It's never too late to be transformed, but the time is NOW.

11 We hear that some among you are idle and disruptive. They are not busy; they are busybodies. 12 Such people we command and urge in the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and earn the food they eat. 13 And as for you, brothers and sisters, never tire of doing what is good.

I love Paul's distinction between "busy" and "busybodies."  There is ALWAYS good to do in this broken world...until our Savior comes again.  We can't just wait on Him because He has work for us to do.  We are His hands.  Waiting means it's time for us to work for our Lord.

Hmmm.  What about me?  Am I a "busybody" in some areas of my life, missing the boat and God's purpose?  Or, am I busy with and for God in ALL that I do?

There's no better time to start figuring it out than now.

Here's just the prayer we need for today-

16 May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father, who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope, 17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word.

Dear God,

Thank you for calling me through the gospel and Your Holy Word to share in Your glory as a sister/brother in Christ.  I pray that You will guide me in sharing Your truth and grace with others ________ [feel free to name those on your heart].  I pray, like Paul, that You, God, will continue to direct my heart into Your love and Christ's perseverance.  Make me busy for You!

In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace at all times and in every way,
