John 14:15-31

40 Days of John

Day 26: John 14:15-31

Jesus promises us the Holy Spirit in today's reading.  It's a really big deal and way beyond our logical understanding.

Here's Jesus' promise to us...

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.

Jesus comes to you.  He comes to me.  He is with us.

We hear God's promises, and yet it can be near impossible to recognize God's presence in the middle of our daily lives.

Though I can tell you about "God moments" throughout my life, it took me a really long time (into adulthood) soaking in God's Word to be more in-tuned to the "ever-presentness" of the Holy Spirit in my life.

Sure, there are times I am more connected to the Holy Spirit than others...I think that's God's sense of direction for me (and for you if you've ever felt it).

For me, the Holy Spirit is something I can sense in my core.  It's a certainty beyond description, a peace I know can only come from God himself.  Words don't do the Holy Spirit justice because it's so personal and has to be experienced in the moment.

I am just curious... can you name a specific moment in your life when you felt the Holy Spirit?

If you are reading this and you are feeling alone, or you are unsure about God's presence in Your life, I encourage you to believe in today's words and see.  Let me assure you that God keeps His promises.  We are never alone.  He is alive and at work in us and in the world even when we don't recognize Him.

A prayer for you-

Dear God,

Thank You for living in me, and for making Yourself known to me.

Forgive me for missing Your presence in the middle of busy days.  Help me to stay connected to You, to remember you, to look for You and know Your ever-presentness in my life.

I pray for Your peace and direction when it comes to ______________.  I pray for You to bless ___________________.  What do you need me to do for You, Lord?

I love You, Lord, and I praise You, my Rock and my Redeemer.

In the name of Jesus I pray,
Amen

Peace of Christ,
